Tiger - Save them, we need them

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright

In the forests of the night,

What immortal hand or eye

Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

- William Blake

Above words defines the Tiger, mightiest of all the animals. Highest population of Tiger is in India, many of the national parks and wildlife sanctuaries have been declared Tiger Reserves, which provide shelter to the king of the jungle.

Population of Tiger which was more than 100,000 in the beginning of the 20th century have now reduced to 4-5,000 (Many say this has reduced to as low as 2500-3000). Largest population of Tigers are in India, most of them are Royal Bengal Tiger. Some of the important tiger reserves of India are -

  • Ranthambore

  • Kanha

  • Bandhavgarh

  • Sunderbans

  • Corbett

Corbett national park has mainly population of Indo-Chinese subspecies of Tiger. These tiger reserves where made to protect tigers and provide the environment to live in wild and grow. But somehow all the efforts seems to have gone invain. Like in case of Sariska which is so called a tiger reserve in state of Rajasthan in India. All the tigers of Sariska have vanished and poachers are eyeing other tiger reserves to eliminate them from other tiger reserves. Indian government needs to take some effective steps to stop these things which remains a major issue. India may boast of highest population of tiger in wild for now, but the days are not far when we will say "India was the Home of Tigers".

Fast pace development needs to learn how to develop without disturbing the ecology and environment. Development is putting pressure on our environment and we are not able to protect it. There should be an honest approach towards saving our environment, our jungles, our animal reserves and wildlife parks which are very necessary to maintain the environmental cycle. It is illogical to blame the Chinese medicine for this fast reducing tiger population. Because handful number of tigers are not and can never be enough for making the medicine for more than a billion population of whole of China. Government should stop giving lame excuses and concern officials needs to be more responsible and honest. Otherwise the disaster is in waiting.
